Hospitality for Sustainable Tourism Development
This master program aims at providing competencies and skills to tourism managers of the future to be able to transform locations in tourist destinations.
Tourism is changing and operators need innovative competencies to manage this challenging situation. Hospitality organizations, intended as all the operators that host and offer services to guests in a specific destination, understand the importance of destination management and marketing and search for managers with a multidisciplinary perspective able to solve problems and develop innovative strategies.
Therefore, the objective of the course is to prepare HSTD graduates to work as managers, entrepreneurs, consultants in private and public organizations of the tourism sector, at national and international level, with a special focus on sustainability.
Lessons are held in English.
The program is articulated in two curricula:
Sustainable Hospitality Management (SHM)
This curriculum aims at providing students with the managerial tools required by companies operating in the hospitality industry. The course prepares qualified experts in hospitality management involving both private and public operators engaged in the development of a tourist destination.
Heritage and Cultural Tourism Management (HCTM)
This curriculum aims at providing students with the managerial tools required by companies operating in the cultural tourism industry. The course provides knowledge in: destination management and marketing, economics and law of arts and cultures, sustainability and event management for museums, public authorities promoting tourism and culture (ministries and councils), and in online and offline publishing companies.

Project Manager for sustainable tourism development
HSTD graduates can understand the recent tourism trends from different perspectives (economic, social, and cultural) and apply the skills acquired to innovate the local tourism offer according to a sustainable approach.
Hospitality Manager
This manager holds positions of general manager or head of department (commercial, marketing, etc.) in hospitality companies (hotels, distribution, incoming, entertainment, culture, and transport facilities). Starting from the analysis of the environment the hospitality manager can interact with the various stakeholders in the area in order to develop a virtuous path for tourism development of the entire destination.
Communication and Event Manager
This expert is involved in planning the development of tourism in a specific area dealing with various public and private entities. Main activities are: planning communication activities to promote the image of a destination and organizing events for sustainable tourism development.
Multiple career opportunities (either as executive and/or consultant/entrepreneur) in accommodation companies (hotels, resorts), travel distribution (tour operators and online and offline travel agencies), cultural sites (museums, cultural and natural parks), fairs and event organizers, DMO (Destination Management Organizations), professional associations, cultural departments, ministries (tourism, culture, etc.), cultural heritage management bodies, national and international research centers for international tourism development.
