Born in Milan in 1967, Luciano Piubelli graduated with honor in Biological Sciences at University of Milan in 1991 and earned a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the same University in 1994. From October 1995 to September 1997 he worked as post-doc fellow at the Biochemistry Institute of the University of Zurich and subsequently, from October 1997 to May 1999 again at the University of Milan as post-doc fellow. In June 1999 he became Assistant Professor at the University of Insubria (Varese) and from December 2019 is Associate Professor at the same University (Department of Biotechnology and Life Sciences).
In his scientific career, he published 42 papers on peer-reviewed journals, 12 papers on books and is co-author of more than 70 communications to national and international meetings. He was tutor or co-tutor of 18 Bachelor or Master degrees thesis in Biological Sciences and Biotechnology and co-tutor of one Ph.D. dissertation in Molecular and Cellular Biology.
He is member of the Italian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SIB) and of the Teaching Board of the Ph.D. Course in Life Sciences and Biotechnology (University of Insubria). He was member of the Organizing Committee of SIB symposia and schools and of IDAR2017, the 3rd International Conference of D-Amino Acid Research.
