Passing the first year Professional Traineeship exam
At the end of each academic year there is an Traineeship Exam with the Director of Professional Education, assisted by one or more Tutors. The final evaluation, expressed out of thirty, will be obtained on the basis of:
-Personal assessment sheet drawn up by the Tutor / Traineeship Assistant of the places attended: the sheet analyzes and evaluates the skills and abilities acquired.
- A Power Point presentation on the activities carried out in the laboratories attended, which will be the basis for an interview aimed at evaluating the knowledge, expertise and skills acquired, as well as the communication skills and the appropriateness of the vocabulary used.
The Traineeship is aimed at refining the learning and training process of the student, creating moments of alternation between study and work. It therefore represents an experience in a real context for the students of the CdL in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques, allowing them to activate the learning process through careful observation in the field and through experience, integrating theoretical knowledge and operational practice, acquiring knowledge concerning the organization and structure of the laboratory, the type of examinations performed and the management of one's own and colleagues' safety.
The Traineeship is a compulsory training activity and is carried out both in the 1st and 2nd semester of the year in laboratories affiliated with the University. The student will be guided to achieve the objectives through the tutoring and coaching activities of the Traineeship Assistants and under the supervision of the Director of Professional Didactics.
At the end of the Traineeship the student will be able to:
a) Participate personally in the activities in the operational context, demonstrating availability, initiative and sensitivity to teamwork.
b) Describe the operating bases of the equipment used in the operational reality and the maintenance necessary for correct operation.
c) Describe and carry out the pre-treatment operations of the samples as well as being able to identify non-conformities of the same.
d) Carry out the various analytical methods and describe their protocols.
The Traineeship includes the continuation of the training activities started in the first year, deepening the diagnostic techniques and operational processes at the laboratories to which it will be assigned, learning to manage the pre-analytical phase, the analytical phase and the post-analytical phase in the various laboratory sectors. , acquiring specific diagnostic-laboratory-computer skills in Clinical Pathology, Pathological Anatomy, Immunohematology and Transfusion, and in Microbiology.
The student is required to attend the Traineeship activities in the periods and at the times scheduled by the Director of Professional Education for a total number of hours equal to 550 hours (22 CFU). The student will carry out the activity of the laboratory under the guidance of the Internship Tutor / Assistant, in direct collaboration with the staff in charge of the various operational responsibilities. For each phase of work, the Traineeship Tutor / Assistant will identify the activities that the student can initially perform alongside and subsequently independently.
