Making Judgements: 

At the end of the course graduates in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques will:

- Demonstrate ability to account for their actions during the professional practice in accordance with the professional profile;

- Use critical thinking skills to deliver effective diagnostic technical performances;

- Assume responsibility for their actions according to the work objectives and priorities;

- Demonstrate ability also take into account the other professionals during their work;

- Apply the ethical principles in their professional behavior.

Methodologies and training activities, teaching tools to develop the expected results:

- Case discussion in subgroups with presentations in plenary sessions;

- Traineeships supervised by a tutor in different contexts and with a gradual acquisition of independence and responsibility.

The results will be assessed through:

- Written and oral examinations,

Feedback evaluation during the traineeship (structured assessment sheets and clinical reports on professional practice).

Communication skills: 

At the end of the course graduates in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques will be able to:

- Properly listen to and communication with the users and the other professionals thus using different communication types: written, verbal and non-verbal;

- Establish effective relationships with other professionals;

- Manage and transmit information to the users;

- Extensively use information technologies;

- Establish professional and collaborative relationships with other health professionals thus knowing of the peculiarities of the different professional roles.

Methodologies and training activities, teaching tools to develop the expected results:

- Video and critical analysis of films, simulations, narratives and testimonies;

- Case discussion in subgroups with presentations in plenary sessions;

- Traineeships supervised by a tutor in different contexts, debriefing sessions to meditate on and re-elaborate experiences of professional practice.

The results will be assessed through:

- Oral reports on communication aspects;

- Feedback evaluation during the traineeship (structured assessment sheets and written reports)

- objective structured Examination with simulations stations on relational skills.

Learning skills: 

At the end of the course graduates in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques will:

- Demonstrate self-assessment abilities as to their skills and to outline the need for further development and learning;

- Show expertise in planning, organizing and developing their own actions;

- Demonstrate ability to collaborative learning and knowledge sharing within the work team;

- Demonstrate the ability to study autonomously;

- Show their ability in finding the information needed to solve problems or uncertainties in the practice, thus critically selecting secondary sources (guidelines, systematic reviews) and primary sources (research studies).

Methodologies and training activities, teaching tools to develop the expected results:

- Problem-based learning (PBL);

- Use of cognitive maps;

- Laboratories in research methodology of online and printed literature;

- Guided reading to the critical evaluation of the scientific and professional literature both in Italian and English.

The results will be assessed through:

- Project-work, reports on specific research tasks;

- Tutorial supervision over the traineeship path;

- Lively participation in working and debriefing sessions;

- Punctuality and quality in papers presentation.

The final exam also qualifies for professional practice and consists of: a) a practical exam where students demonstrate proper knowledge and skills; b) the drafting and dissertation of a final work (degree thesis). The exam is organized abiding by the decree of the Minister of Education, University and Research in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Policies, in two national sessions.
