Voto Finale

The German Language 1 course in Tourism Studies is aimed at acquiring and developing a solid foundational knowledge in reading, listening comprehension, writing, and speaking within the tourism sector.
The primary goal of this course is to equip students with the ability to navigate common everyday situations, enhancing their sector-specific vocabulary and the communication strategies needed to facilitate dialogue with foreign clientele in various tourism contexts. A significant emphasis is placed on listening and comprehension in German to encourage conversation through the simulation of real-life daily situations (such as welcoming tourists, handling reservations, and offering specific services), thus improving spoken production by fostering the correct use of the acquired terminology and pronunciation accuracy.
The course also provides an opportunity to deepen students' understanding of the culture and traditions of German-speaking countries, thereby offering tourism professionals greater opportunities for interaction with clients.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- understand typical phrases and expressions used in the sector,
- read and comprehend simple written communications related to the tourism context,
- engage in oral interactions on tourism and economic-related topics (obtaining and providing information at the reception, in restaurants, bars, making small talk, responding to requests, and offering assistance and support).

The teaching includes:
- frontal explanations of vocabulary, grammar and phonetics
- general listening texts aimed at the tourism sector
- exercises in understanding the texts with the use of tourism
terminology,
- open dialogues and role-playing games
- producing small written conversations
Both course materials and any additional in-depth materials are uploaded
to the e-learning platform.

The course takes place in the first semester for a total of 35 hours of
frontal lessons. The course includes analysis and exercises of German
vocabulary, grammar and phonetics, general listening texts, exercises of
comprehension with the use of tourism terminology, open dialogues and
role-playing games, production of small reports or written conversations
and consultation of web-corpora and online resources useful for
glossaries or for further information on the subject.
Summary sheets and course materials, as well as any additional material
will be uploaded weekly to the e-learning platform of the course.
