Each of the open questions is designed to test knowledge of the publishing, production and economic system of contemporary serial fiction and is assessed for a maximum of 5 points. The evaluation of the answers will take into account the ability to analyse (60%) and the ability to adequately justify statements and judgements (40%). Attending students will be given the opportunity to prepare a paper on the analysis of a serial fiction product (to be delivered in digital format, via e-mail, by the date of the exam roll for which the student is enrolled, and consisting of approx. 5-10 pages of 3000 characters each); the methods for preparing the paper and the terms of its validity will be explained during the lessons. In order to pass the learning assessment, the student must have achieved a total mark of 18/30.

Learning objectives The course aims to provide an overview of trends in contemporary cinema from the 1990s to the present day, with a focus on the notion of authorship and the possibility of identifying recognisable stylistic features. The aim is to provide an analytical and interpretative method of the filmic text, taking into account some fundamental guidelines - historical evolution of the distinctive traces of film authorship, and redefinition according to the geographical, historical and artistic context; - deepening of the notion of ‘style’ and identification of the stylistic marks typical of contemporary cinema, also in relation to the production, distribution and promotion logics (e.g. film festivals) in place; - possibility of connecting the author's artistic identity with his own stylistic, linguistic and narrative elements (writing, themes, staging and staging, point of view); - connections between historical, social, political and cultural processes and their cinematographic reworking in contemporary auteur production. The teaching content is particularly functional in the learning area of audiovisual and media storytelling. Expected learning outcomes At the end of the course, the student will be able to: - critically analyse the filmic text - know the contemporary film system, both historically and artistically: - recognise the stylistic and narrative elements that define a coherent and organised production

The course will specifically analyse the following topics - definition and analysis of methodological, theoretical and historical-economic issues related to the notion of ‘contemporary cinema’, “author” and ‘style’ (approximately 12 hours) - identification and stylistic-formal analysis of audiovisual works representative of contemporary auteur cinema (approximately 20 hours) - in-depth monographic study on the cinema of Clint Eastwood (approximately 24 hours): - interdisciplinary seminar in crossover mode (for a maximum of 12 hours), which will include the participation of other lecturers of the course, in order to deepen, understand and interpret the topics dealt with through different interpretations
