GENERAL SURGERY - CO
The General Surgery Course will concern about:
- Pathology of the esophagus: gastro-esophageal reflux disease and hiatal hernia, achalasia, esophageal diverticula, cancer of the esophagus.
- The stomach: peptic ulcer and stomach cancer.
- Pathology of the colorectal: diverticular disease, colon cancer, ostomy
- Breast pathology: benign and malignant tumors
- Pathology of the pancreas: acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer.
- Thyroid: goiter, adenoma and malignant tumors
- Pathology of the liver and biliary tract: benign and malignant tumors of the liver, calculosis of the biliary tract and gallbladder, jaundice of surgical interest
- Acute appendicitis
- Abdominal wall: hernias and laparoceles
- the post-operative management of the patient, the patient pathway in a Day Service, the operative room
The course will be structured with lectures interspersed with moments of discussion and active involvement of the students.
During the lessons the teacher will also present cases and daily facts that can better explain some topics. Students are obliged to attend lessons as established in the teaching regulations of the course of study and to sign the attendance sheet in order to take the exam. The teacher undertakes to make the presentations projected during lessons available via the University IT platforms (e.g. e-learning) to which the students have access.
