MATHEMATICS, PHYSICS AND RADIOPROTECTION - Mathematics
No prerequisite
In class participation and final project: written elaboration and oral presentation.
The student will be able to describe and plot univariate and bivariate data. He/she will also be able to estimate a regression line and perform a hypothesis test on the coefficients. The student will familiarize with the R freeware statistical software.
Position and variability measures. Graphical representations and frequency tables. Regression line and testing of hypotheses on coefficients.
Tipo di variabili: qualitative e quantitative. Measures of position: mean, mode, median.
Measures of variability: variance, standard deviation, range, coefficient of variation.
Distribution of absolute, relative and percentage frequencies.
Graphical representations: box-plot, histogram, scatter-plot.
Regression line: estimate of the coefficients by ordinary least squares method. Hypothesis testing on the coefficients. P-value: interpretation.
