no prerequisites the course starts from the initial level
The final exam includes an assessment (written and oral) of the skills acquired and an interview with the teacher in charge of the course.
Written exam: the student will have to pass the following parts for a total of 100 points (with an average higher than 60% for each of them).
- cloze test: insertion of grammatical or lexical elements in the empty spaces of a text;
- written expression or composition (20/20): writing a short text without dictionary;
- hearing comprehension (10/10) answering questions on an oral text;
- textual comprehension (10/10) answer to questions on one or more texts;
- translation test (30/30) from Italian into Spanish (with the possibility of using monolingual, bilingual, synonyms, etc. dictionaries).
Students in possession of the DELE level B1 certification will be able to validate the first four tests but will still have to take the translation test which will replace the 30 points of the DELE oral test.
Students who pass the written test will be admitted to the oral test (the validity of the written test is equal to one calendar year). Students who have a DELE level B1 certificate can have the DELE oral exam grade replaced by the translation grade in order to subsequently sit the oral exam on the indicated reading program.
Oral exam: interview with the teacher on topics related to the texts read during the year (short stories, summaries available on the platform, etc.) and the online cards dealt with in the official course. To acquire the required level of linguistic competence, the student will be able to use the material uploaded on the digital platform and work independently, using the tools (manuals, grammars, dictionaries, etc.) recommended in the bibliography. As for the oral part of the exam, the student must be able to answer theoretical questions on grammar, translation, etc. and questions aimed at demonstrating one's communicative competence (making a summary, comparing two chapters, etc.) on the mandatory readings for the oral exam (see above).

The Spanish Language I course aims to promote the learning of Spanish in a pedagogically inductive way, to create the conditions for a true intercomprehension that can respond to Europe's objectives regarding the multilingualism of citizens belonging to the same linguistic group (such as the Italian language and the Spanish one, but not only), make it possible to access not only written or media sources (internet, newspapers, books, radio, television, etc.), but also oral and written interaction taking into account that the written best key to enter a neighboring language but with the idea of always combining the sound image and the written image.
The course lasts one year and consists of 60 hours of lessons and 60 hours of exercises (60 lessons + 60 exercises, 30 + 30 for each semester). It is aimed at first year students and as such has the general objective of providing a solid foundation for learning the spoken and written Spanish language, in order to achieve a level B1 competence of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) or a level B1.1. of the Curricular Plan of the Instituto Cervantes, available on the internet:

At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
1. have a large but simple repertoire of vocabulary, grammatical structures and phraseological units;
2. have a repertoire of general knowledge and different practices (cultural references, socio-cultural conventions, etc.) for socio-cultural transactions in the Hispanic world;
3. communicate in a neutral register but with adequate flexibility in order to make one's speech consistent with different situations;
4. express oneself linguistically in Spanish with adequate correction; even if there are pauses, some tension or inaccuracies in pronunciation;
5. ask for clarification on the speeches heard or read;
6. carry out routine transactions (commercial, business, travel arrangements, in the post office, in the bank, in shops, etc.) that require non-specialized language skills;
7. overcome sudden situations (a theft, an accident, complaining about damage suffered, etc.);
8. use linguistic and non-linguistic resources necessary for communicative exchanges with an average degree of fluidity, naturalness, fluency and precision with sufficient competence so that the interlocutors do not need to make a special effort to understand the exchange;
9. have a linguistic conscience in Spanish to avoid errors that can lead to misunderstandings;
10. ask the interlocutor the meaning of his speech to avoid ambiguities;
11. argue without major errors in the wording and with certain nuances in writing and speaking with clear pronunciation;
12. understand the effect that their discourse causes in the interlocutor and know how to adjust the register to the level of formality required according to the circumstances and the situation, even if the situation is of reduced conflict and requires a moderately persuasive language.

As regards lexical, cultural, discursive contents, pragmatic strategies, socio-cultural skills, etc., reference will be made to level B1 of the QREL. More specifically, see pp. 99-149 of vol. I and pp. 11-670 of Vol II of the Plan Curricular of the Instituto Cervantes (Biblioteca Nueva, Madrid, 2007).
The course includes 60 hours of lectures and 60 hours of exercises.
The topics being studied from time to time will be specified in detail on the Moodle e-learning platform and will correspond to the grammatical, pragmatic, functional, notional, textual, prosodic (phonetic-phonological system in a Spanish-Italian contrastive key), spelling and discourse described for level A1-A2 in the first semester and B.1.1. in the second semester.
The lessons will include a theoretical introduction and an application part, oriented towards reading, translation (both from Spanish into Italian and from Italian into Spanish) and the analysis of texts.
The lesson schedule includes 30 semester hours of monographic course (see 'course program') carried out by the teacher and 30 hours of exercises on the monographic course carried out by the instructors.
The Spanish language exercises are a fundamental part of the course, so attendance is highly recommended. All students will find on the website of the e-learning platform of the course slides, summaries, cards with various types of exercises that will be corrected in the classroom and whose corrections will in any case be made available online.

* Texts required as exam subjects: in the first semester the student will read the texts that are available on the e-learning platform. In the second semester the student will read two literary texts (short novel, anthology of short stories, etc.) which he will choose and agree with the Spanish language teachers.
