The course aims at providing students with a general overview on the main topics of Legal Informatics. More specifically it focuses on a group of key topics (from information society to algorithms) which are relevant to understand the normative impacts of ICT on legal systems. To accomplish the task the course will adopt a legal-theoretical approach.

After a general overview on "Information Society" and on the ongoing computerization process, attention will be given to the diffusion of computers, the data issue, the "internet revolution" and its complex governance, Artificial Intelligence, and algorithm-based systems. Moreover, specific lectures will focus on relevant legal issues for Digital Public Administrations.
