n order to sit the examination, you must register via the electronic notice board, in accordance with the deadline (the lists will automatically close on the indicated deadline and will no longer be accessible).
If you decide not to take the examination once you have registered, you must cancel it before the closing date.
The final examination will be an oral interview with 5 questions, the answer to which is graded between 0 and 6 points. The minimum threshold to pass the exam is 18/30.
The questions assess the students' knowledge and preparation on the reference text, both from a mnemonic point of view and above all from a critical and logical point of view, ascertaining the ability to connect theoretical elements, contemporary facts, empirical cases and diachronic analysis to the analysis of the tourism phenomenon.
For students attending the lectures, the ability to relate the teaching received in the classroom to the contents of the study text indicated below will be positively assessed. For non-attending students, in-depth thematic studies will be appreciated.
Reference texts
The text on which to prepare for the examination is one and must be studied in full:
Albanese V., Graziano T. (2020), "Place, cyberplace e le nuove geografie della comunicazione", BUP, Bologna.
The main objective of the course is to introduce a critical reflection on the role of communication in the dynamics of territorial evolution.
The programme is divided into two modules: 1) In the first module, the tools (theoretical and methodological) for a critical understanding of the key themes of Cultural Geography will be provided. 2) In the second module, the role of the Geography of Communication in narratological analysis will be addressed. The second part of the course begins with the study of the narrative turn as a key to interpreting Geography and territorial identities, then moves on to the digital turn and the role that both turns have played in geographical narratives and in the interpretation of territories through the various media throughout history.
In particular, the following themes will be explored:
Cultural geography: from Sauer to postmodernism
Narrative Geographies
Media Geographies
Territory, Place and Identity
Geographical stereotypes
Lectures are face-to-face, supported by power point presentations, scientific articles, focus groups, films, and the intervention of thematic experts.
Students are encouraged to maintain an active involvement during the lectures.
The lecturer receives on Teams or at her studio, by appointment to be arranged by email (email: ve.albanese@uninsubria.it)
