Attending students
The "attending" mode provides the opportunity for students to carry out an assignment subject to assessment.
The exam is in written form and will have a different structure depending on whether the student chooses to do the assignment or not:
- Structure for students who do not do the assignment: 2 exercises (max 20 points) and some theory questions (max 11 points). The former need for a test of the ability to analyze and process data referring to exemplified business situations, while the open questions tend to test the study and understanding of concepts and definitions
- Structure for students who do the assignment with positive evaluation: 1 exercise (max 10, points that are added to the assignment evaluation, for a maximum total of 20 points ) in addition to the theory questions (max 11 points).
Constitutes examination program for attending students the reference text (A. Arcari - Ed. 2023) except chapters: 6 - 9 -10 -11-12.
"Non" attending students
Also for non-attending students, the exam is in written form and includes 2 exercises (max 20 points) and some theory questions (max 11 points).
The reference text (A. Arcari - Ed. 2023) excluding chapters: 9 -10 -11-12 constitutes the examination program for non-attending students.
The written exam may be taken in all scheduled exams for students enrolled in the PT course. There are no supplementary oral exams scheduled.

The course Planning and control is offered to students with the aim to broaden the knowledge of financial accounting and to introduce the logic of management control.
The primary educational objective is to facilitate, through theoretical lessons, incident discussions and practical exercises, learning methodologies and logic design and the functioning of systems to measure costs and managerial control.

The main contents of the course can be traced back to these complementary areas of knowledge:
- Calculation of production costs at actual values
- Calculation of production costs at budget values
-Use of information to support planning and control processes.

Analytical programme
The program is ideally divided into two parts:
PART A-Cost accounting System
- Accounting methods and non-accounting for the calculation of production costs;
-Criteria for the classification of the different configurations of costs and product cost;
-Traditional methods of calculating the full cost of the product;
-Calculation of product costs in different types of processes
-Normalized cost vs. standard cost
-Determination of standard cost
-Variances analysis
PART B – Management control
-Operational decisions and investment decisions
-Variables cost accounting
-Segment analysis
-Operational decision-making
- Short term decision algorithms
- Capital Budgeting
-The budgeting: methodological, procedural and organizational aspects
-The financial reporting.
