In this regard, a mention will be made of the importance of primary prevention, with the elimination of risk factors, and secondary, with early diagnosis, in the context of chronic-degenerative diseases, while for infectious diseases, attention will be focused on direct and indirect prophylaxis with some examples of diseases with different transmission. The aim of the course will also be to provide students with knowledge of the main health risks associated with the contamination of the various environmental matrices.

Hygiene objectives - health determinants - disease concept - Risk factors, difference in chronic degenerative and infectious diseases - Various types of prevention: primary, secondary and tertiary - study objectives of a screening - factors that influence the onset of infectious diseases - direct and indirect prevention - immunoprophylaxis of infectious diseases - active and passive immunoprophylaxis - vaccinations - herd immunity - composition of vaccines - contraindications and adverse effects - vaccination schedule - Infectious diseases with vaccines.
Source of health data: censuses, age pyramids, birth and death records, infectious disease notification, hospital discharge, cancer registers
Epidemiology: ratios, proportions and rates, incidence and prevalence, cross-sectional, case control and longitudinal studies, relative risk and attributable risk
Environmental hygiene: water, air and waste
Deepening: Sexually transmitted diseases, Disinfection: disinfectant characteristics and activity levels - sterilization: physical and chemical methods, Predictable diseases with environmental remediation: orofecal transmission and food poisoning, Botulism - acute gastroenteritis
