- Physiopathology of the puerperium (maternal changes, genital tract modifications, maternal monitoring).
- Etiopathogenesis, differential diagnosis, general principles of therapy, complications of pregnancy and delivery (fist and second trimester miscarriage, uterine bleeding, placenta previa, uterine rupture, surgery during gestation).
- Obstetric emergencies and complications: antepartum and postpartum hemorrhage (diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment, emergent cesarean delivery, vacuum extractor, forceps)
- Medical diseases in pregnancy (pregestational diabetes, gestational diabetes, endocrine diseases, immunological diseases, rheumatologic diseases, trauma during gestation).
- Pre-eclampsia and preterm birth (etiology, definition, medical and surgical treatment, maternal and fetal complications, mode of delivery, premature rupture of membranes, antibiotic treatment).
- Complications of twin pregnancy (twin to twin transfusion, intrauterine growth restriction, preterm delivery, mode of delivery).
- Pathologies of fetal growth (etiology, diagnosis, macrosomia, small for gestational age, management of fetal growth restriction)
- Dystocia in vaginal delivery, vaginal and abdominal operative delivery (vacuum extractor and forceps indications, different types of cesarean deliveries, modality of oxytocin and prostaglandis administration, hemostatic uterine suture, vascular clamping).

The course will be held through lectures, with presentation of slides and videos

It will be possible to attend the gynecology and obstetrics clinics (subject to a formal request from the student via email addressed to the Director of the Gynecology and Obstetrics department) to explore specific diagnostic and surgical aspects in obstetrics and gynecology.
