CARDIOVASCULAR DIAGNOSTICS

Degree course:
Academic year when starting the degree:
2017/2018
Year:
2
Academic year in which the course will be held:
2018/2019
Credits:
8
Period:
Second semester
Standard lectures hours:
108
Requirements:

According to the regulation of this course, having passed examinations of the previous years is required to take the examination of this course. To optimize learning, persistent knowledge of the human anatomy and physiology provided in the previous years is important.

Final Examination:
Orale

Oral examination on each section of the course by each teacher. The teacher will evaluate the students’ knowledge of the different aspects of the interventional cardiovascular procedures, cardiac non-invasive imaging, and the diseases of the aorta and peripheral vessels. The final score will be the average of the marks obtained in each section of the examination. Student should undergo examination on each section in the same date

Assessment:
Voto Finale

Provide the student with adequate knowledge of the medical, nursing and technical aspects of the different interventional cardiovascular procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease related to coronary diseases, cardiac arrhythmias or structural heart diseases. Cardiovascular non-invasive imaging and aortic and peripheral vascular diseases with the related surgical procedures complete the knowledge provided to the student in this course

VASCULAR SURGERY
Diseases of the aorta and the arterial and venous peripheral vessels and the related surgical interventions.
CARDIOVASCOLAR IMAGING
Non-invasive cardiovascular imaging: computed tomography, cardiac magnetic resonance. Procedures in interventional radiology.
INTERVENTIONAL CARDIOVASCULAR PROCEDURE
Peripheral vascular access in interventional cardiology. Hemodynamic study: pressure recordings and oximetry. Coronary vessels evaluation: angiography, intravascular ultrasounds, functional evaluation of the coronary vessels; procedure complications. Electrophysiology study: materials and methodologies, pacing protocols, intracavitary signals interpretations; procedure complications. Peculiar procedures: transseptal catheterization and percutaneous pericardial access. Cardiac mapping: principles of conventional mapping and electroanatomic mapping. Catheter ablation: biophysics of radiofrequency and cryothermal energies; identification of ablation targets and procedure end-points. Device for left atrial appendage, atrial septal defect and patent forman ovale occlusion.
NURSING IN INVASIVE PROCEDURES
Nursing in interventional cardiovascular procedures. Patient management and safety .
METHODS AND TECHNIQUES IN HEMODYNAMIC PROCEDURES
Technical aspects in hemodynamic procedure. Techology management management and safety.
