The final examination is written and tests the student's knowledge of the vocabulary related to the dental hygienist's profession.There are 40 questions in total. The task includes gap-filling and multiple choice exercises
This course has the aim to provide Dental Hygiene students with the necessary skills to successfully read and translate scientific texts related to their syllabus in English and communicate with foreign patients or colleagues in a dental/healthcare setting
Reading comprehension and translation: The human tooth and its structural elements- Primary and secondary dentition- The role of the Dental Hygienist- Gum disease(gingivitis and periodontitis)- Gingival plaque ( dental plaque biofilm detection and control)- Care of orthodontic appliances- Toothbrushes and toothbrushing methods- Prevention of disease transmission in oral healthcare (personal protective equipment-disinfecting agents)- Risk factors associated with gum disease- Factors influencing client adherence to preventive regimen and treatment.

Lectures ( 36 hours in total)focus on exercises of reading comprehension and translation of scientific papers drawn from the international literature in English.
Widening the dental hygienist's vocabulary is the main objective of this course but grammar rules are often reviewed to help students speak and write correctly.
