Course description and learning objectives
The course aims at developing some specific competences related to:
1) Analysis of philosophical thought and collective imaginary of modern society.
2) Understanding and interpretation of the freemasonry as historical and symbolic phenomenon.
The course will thus focus on the analysis of esoteric symbolism of the freemasonry in an historical perspective. Special focus will be placed on the interaction between modern society and freemasonry tradition, symbolism and values.
In particular, students will be required to analyse and interpret the rising and the social importance of the Red Book of Carl Gustav Jung.

Final assessment
The students’ knowledge will be assessed through a final oral talk

The oral exam students are required to orally analyse and describe the arguments of the course and to have a critic approach.

The following will be evaluated:
1) The lexical correctness of the exposition (5 pts);
2) The correctness of the conceptual analyses (10 pts);
3) The management of an effective methodology of learning (5 pts);
4) The students’ critical thinking skills and capacity of autonomy (10 pts).

The course is divided into three modules:
1) Analysis of collective imaginary and philosophical thought
2) Analysis of the concept of community and its symbolism from the analytical psychology point of view.
3) Analysis of the rise of Red Book of Jung in modern society
