Basic knowledge of microbiology
Oral exam
Through the course of Microbiology students learn the basic knowledge of infectious diseases. Particular attention is given to the microbiological aspects of the oral cavity both in the state of health and disease.
At the end of the course, students will have acquired basic knowledge about infectious processes both at a general level and at the level of the oral cavity
1. The resident oral microbial population
2. Acquisition, adhesion, distribution and metabolism of the oral resident microbial population
3. Microbiological aspects of dental plaque
4. Microbiological aspects of dental caries
5. Periodontal diseases
6. Oral viral infections
7. Oral fungal infections
8. Infections of the oral cavity and systemic diseases
9. Antimicrobial therapy and prophylaxis of oral infections
1. The oral resident microbial population: bacterial species present, interaction between microbial communities of the oral cavity in the state of health and disease
2. Acquisition, adhesion, distribution and metabolism of the oral resident microbial population
3. Microbiological aspects of dental plaque
4. Microbiological aspects of dental caries
5. Periodontal diseases: microbiological aspects
6. Oral viral infections: herpes viruses
7. Oral fungal infections
8. Infections of the oral cavity and systemic diseases
9. Antimicrobial therapy and prophylaxis of oral infections
