The exam assesses: the ability to master concepts and terminology of Cultural Geography from a critical perspective the ability to apply theoretical concepts to real contexts Oral exam. Registration is required via the university’s online system. Failure to cancel registration by the deadline will result in skipping one session.
The course aims to introduce students to a critical reflection on the role of communication in the dynamics of territorial evolution.
The program is divided into two modules: The first module provides theoretical and methodological tools for a critical understanding of key issues in Cultural Geography. The second module addresses the role of Communication Geography in narrative analysis, focusing on the geographical aspects of storytelling. Topics include: Cultural Geography: from Sauer to Postmodernism Narrative Geographies Media Geographies Territory, Place, and Identity Geographical Stereotypes
The modules explore the following topics: Cultural Geography: from Sauer’s school to postmodernism Narrative Geographies: the narrative turn as a key to interpreting geography and territorial identities Media Geographies: the digital turn and the role of media in geographical narratives Concepts of territory, place, and territorial identity Geographical stereotypes and their social impact / Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) SDG 4 Quality Education: Promoting inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all. SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities: Making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. SDG 16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions: Promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development.
