Detail of lecture’s hours:
Lesson (24 hours)
Requirements:

Kinesiology of normal movement and of the gait, Anatomy and physiology of the nervous system, basic knowledge of the main nervous system pathologies.

The examination assesses the level of knowledge of neurological disorders, their course and symptoms and the ability to formulate short- and long-term treatment goals and programme. The one-hour written examination consists of 10 ticked questions, an open question and a clinical case.

Assessment:

The main aim of the lessons is to provide the necessary knowledge about the more frequent diseases concerning the nervous system, including valutation, symptoms and evolution. We will define the rehabilitations goals and modalities also from a practical point of view.

Main neurological diseases: evaluation, symptoms, goals, rehabilitation modalities,
- Stroke
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Parkinson Disease
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
- Spinal Injuries
- Peripherical nervous system injuries
- Polyneuro-pathies and Guillain-Barré Syndrom

Introduction.
Stroke, acute phase, postural care and rehabilitation of trunk control, lower limb rehabilitation and walking, upper limb rehabilitation.
Practical lesson on the treatment of the stroke patient: trunk, upper limb and lower limb.
Head trauma.
Parkinson's disease.
Spinal cord injuries.
Peripheral nervous system injuries.
Practical lesson on the rehabilitation of spinal cord injuries and peripheral nervous system injuries.
Multiple sclerosis.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Polyneuropathies and Guillain Barré disease.

The course is developped in frontal lessons and practical activity training. Frontal lessons use Powerpoint Presentations and clinical cases videos to enhance observational and evaluating capacities of the neurologicl patient.
The practical activity training offers to the student the opportunity to observe, evaluate clinical cases presented on video support, to establish goals and treatment modalities based on the application of clinical reasoning in neurological field. Finally, students will have practice about the elaboration of treatment programs and they will develop the capacity to modulate and dose the exercices proposed.
