Students will choose a writer and write an essay of 1500 words.

Understanding the contemporary history of the Middle East through the literature written by women in the region.
We'll read and comment a few novels relevant to the contemporary history of the Middle East. When it comes to Persian literature, we'll focus on Zoya Pirzad, Spengo io le luci (Brioschi ed.); Simin Daneshvar, Suvashun. Una storia persiana (Brioschi ed.); Shahrnush Parsipur, Donne senza uomini (Aiep). Besides Persian literature, we'll focus on Yemeni literature written by women.
