B1 level of English
Written test online: reading comprehension tasks and Grammar and Use of English
exercises.
The course aims at providing students with a pre-intermediate knowledge of the
morpho-syntactic and lexical structures of the English language and to improve their
reading and listening comprehension skills. Students will also learn how to analyse and
translate short texts concerning the specific field of biotechnologies.
Pre-intermediate level English grammar, main verbal and lexical forms in medical-scientific
English; main linguistic functions and specific linguistic functions of scientific
communication. Reading and listening strategies to grasp both the general meaning of
texts and specific and detailed information.
Grammar: Murphy, Raymond. English Grammar in Use (4th ed. or 5th ed.). Cambridge,
2012/2019. Or any other grammar book B1/B2 (facoltativo). Reading and vocabulary:
Materials will be available on the moodle/e-learning platform. Compulsory series of comprehension e activities and grammar exercises on the MacMillan Campus Online platform.
Frontal and formal interactive teaching (16 hours). Reading/listening and comprehension,
translation and analysis of texts. Grammar and Use of English exercises, true/false
questions, gap filling, multiple choice questions, open questions.
The teacher is available in the classroom before or after lessons, or in Microsoft Teams by e-mail appointment.
