Final written test. 40-item test (different task types and formats) to assess acquisition of grammar structures and linguistic functions as well as understanding and knowledge of vocabulary specific to the career of dental hygienist.
Provide future dental hygienists with the linguistic competence
- to identify, analyse and use the main structures of English at an intermediate level;
- to read, understand and translate into Italian medical scientific texts related to their future profession;
- to communicate with foreign patients and colleagues in an international working environment.
At the end of the course, students will have acquired knowledge of the vocabulary related to the healthcare field as well as adequate command of the subject-specific terminology of Dental Hygiene.
Grammar of the English language, recurring structures of medical scientific English; main linguistic functions and linguistic functions of health, oral and dental care communication; subject-specific vocabulary: health care, anatomy, physiology and pathology of the oral cavity and teeth, dental hygiene, instruments and protective equipment, communicating with patients.
Frontal and formal interactive teaching (36 hours). Reading/listening and comprehension, translation and analysis of texts. Grammar and Use of English exercises, true/false questions, gap filling, multiple choice questions, open questions.
