ENGLISH LANGUAGE
CEFR B1+ level.
Students should start from this threshold to reach an intermediate/advanced level (B2 CEFR)
The final exam is written. It consists of 50 questions(multiple choice).
The student will have to obtain "Pass" (a minimum score of 30 correct answers is required)
Forty questions are aimed at assessing the student's knowledge of the basic English grammar rules, ten questions at testing the acquisition of the main dental terms.
The aim of the course is to provide students with the linguistic competence
- to identify, analyse and use the main structures of English at an intermediate level;
- to read and understand short medical scientific texts related to the dental profession
- to acquire a useful core of medical/dental terms
Grammar of the English language at the intermediate level (comparatives/superlatives, determiners/quantifiers, question tags), in particular:
1. Present tenses: present simple, present continuous
2. Past tenses: simple past, past continuous, past perfect, present perfect, present perfect continuous
3. Future tenses: present simple, present continuous, will future, to be going to, future continuous
4. Conditionals: zero, first, second and third conditional
5. Modals: can, must, have to, should, ought to, had better
6. Passives
7. Reported Speech
Translation of simple texts introducing to dental terms related to:
the tooth and its structure, dentition, oral diseases and dental prosthesis, dental equipment.
Frontal and interactive teaching in English (30 hours)supported by the use of the textbook and further digital material available online.
