Know the techniques of prevention and control of infections in nurse clinical practice.
Acquire knowledge required in order to establish effective and appropriate communication and
relationships with the patients and their family members, as well as with other healthcare
professionals, by being aware of one’s own values and others’ values.
Deepening the knowledge regarding the professional and ethical basis of the relationship of trust with the assisted people in order to provide the protection of their safety, privacy and dignity.
Acquire the knowledge to develop skills in the helping relationship with the assisted person.
Know the basic concepts and fields of action of hygiene and preventive medicine.
Be acquainted with the basic standards for preserving and promoting the health of both the individual and the community.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
- know and understand the hygienic-preventive sciences regarding health determinants, risk factors, individual and community preventive strategies, interventions aimed at promoting the safety of healthcare workers and patients.
The student will identify the main methodologies when it comes to the helping relationship with the patient and their family members.

2. Methods for individual, family and community health education
3. Infection prevention interventions in nursing care (e.g. hand hygiene, application of individual protection devices, preparation of a sterile field, handling of sterile devices, use of antiseptics/disinfectants, isolation)
4 The nursing assistant report
4 Different methodologies for the aid relationship with the assisted person and family members
6 Communication strategies for positive interaction with the assisted person, family members and care team
7 Professional and ethical foundations of the relationship of trust with the assisted person for the protection of his safety, privacy and dignity
8 Identification of risks occurring to the nurse during Nursing care and their prevention
