LINGUA TEDESCA 1
The course does not require prerequisites; it starts from an A0 level.
The learning assessment method consists of two parts. Firstly, a written test (including, by way of example but not limited to, multiple choice questions, open / closed questions, true / false, short exercises in morphology, syntax, translation and terminology research in tourism) and, if passed, a subsequent oral test (which focuses on topics examined during the course). Both tests are mandatory, with the attribution of marks out of thirty. The final grade of the exam is given by the arithmetic average of the marks taken in the two partial tests.
In particular, the terminological capacity acquired to manage the various tourist situations examined during the course, the ability and level of display precision, the ability to understand the questions formulated by customers, companies and tourist facilities in the area and the ability to provide correct information from a content, lexical and grammatical point of view.
The German Language 1 course in Tourism Sciences is aimed at the acquisition and development of solid basic knowledge in reading, listening comprehension, writing and speaking in tourism field.
The main objective of this course is to enable students to know how to move in classic everyday situations, enhancing the specific vocabulary of the sector and the communication strategies necessary to facilitate dialogue with foreign customers in different tourist contexts. An important weight is given to listening and understanding German in order to encourage conversation by simulating real everyday situations (for example for the reception of tourists, for reservations and for specific offers of services), thus improving oral production through the correct use of the acquired terminology and the precision of the pronunciation. The course also represents an opportunity to deepen the knowledge of the culture and traditions of German-speaking countries, in order to give tour operators more opportunities for interaction with customers.
At the end of the course students will be able to
- understand phrases and expressions which are typical of the sector
- read and understand simple written communications relating to the tourist context
- interact orally on tourism-economic topics (obtain and give information at the reception, in the restaurant, at the bar, do small talks, respond to requests and provide assistance and support).
The teaching includes:
- frontal explanations of vocabulary, grammar and phonetics
- general listening texts aimed at the tourism sector
- exercises in understanding the texts with the use of tourism terminology,
- open dialogues and role-playing games
- producing small written conversations
Both course materials and any additional in-depth materials are uploaded to the e-learning platform.
The course takes place in the first semester for a total of 35 hours of frontal lessons. The course includes analysis and exercises of German vocabulary, grammar and phonetics, general listening texts, exercises of comprehension with the use of tourism terminology, open dialogues and role-playing games, production of small reports or written conversations and consultation of web-corpora and online resources useful for glossaries or for further information on the subject.
Summary sheets and course materials, as well as any additional material will be uploaded weekly to the e-learning platform of the course.
