Teaching activity concerns in particular the following topics: general concepts of anatomy and physiology of the endocrine system; main pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands diseases; osteoporosis; diabetes mellitus; hypoglicemic syndromes; obesity and metabolic syndrome.

Hypothalamus and pituitary: regulation of pituitary function; hypopituitarism; pituitary tumors; diabetes insipidus.
Thyroid gland: thyroid physiology, thyrotoxicosis and hyperthyroidism; hypothyroidism; thyroiditis, thyroid nodule and tumors.
Parathyroid glands: physiology of parathyroids and calcium metabolism; hyperparathyroidism and hypoparathyroidism; osteoporosis.
Adrenal glands: adrenal physiology; Cushing’s syndrome; Addison’s disease; Conn disease; pheochromocytoma and paragangliomas.
Neuroendocrine tumors: multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN).
Diabetes mellitus: classification and pathogenesis, clinical features, laboratory diagnosis, acute and chronic complications.
Hypoglycemic syndromes.
Obesity and metabolic syndrome.

Teaching takes place through lectures in the classroom conducted with the use of support material (slides). Interaction with the teacher is encouraged to promote understanding of the topics covered. The content presented in class is made available on the Moodle page reserved for teaching.

The learning of the Course contents is based on the slides presented and explained by the teacher during the lectures.
