During the course, the following topics will be covered:
Infectious diseases: definition, role in human pathology, modes of transmission, prevention, main criteria for diagnosis.
Viral hepatitis: HAV, HBV, HDV, HCV, HEV. Modes of transmission, clinical manifestations, and diagnosis
HIV infection: epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and prevention.
Vertical transmission infections: CMV, HSV1 and HSV2 infection, Rubella, Toxoplasmosis, HBV, HCV, HIV.
Travel diseases: malaria. Pulmonary and extrapulmonary tuberculosis: transmission, clinical manifestations, diagnosis and prevention. Scabies and pediculosis.
Infections of the urogenital system in pregnancy: candidiasis, herpes genitalis
General principles of epidemiology and prevention of Health care associated infections
Occupational exposure risk for healthcare professionals, prevention rules and post-exposure prophylaxis. SARS-CoV-2 Infection

The module is organized in lectures, with the slides. The lessons will be developed following a common path to all topics: definition of pathology, etiology and pathogenesis, epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and prevention. The presentation of clinical cases will enrich the lessons.
During the lesson, students will be able to intervene with questions and observations. At the end of the lesson, space will be given to the clarifications necessary for understanding the topic.
A part of the last lesson of the course will be dedicated to focus on the main fundamental concepts for understanding the single topics covered during the course and allow you to resume some passages that may not have been clear.
