To access the Internship, the student must participate in the laboratories and in the professionalizing activities of deepening with compulsory frequency since these supplementary activities will allow him to acquire specific skills and competences in a protected and simulated situation, preparing himself for the clinical situations he will experience on the field. In addition, the student must acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in the characterizing disciplines provided (characterizing anatomy and the safety of the patient and operator in diagnostic imaging).
The exam will focus on the contents of the professionalizing internship carried out in the various operational areas mentioned above, taking into account (also) the skills and abilities acquired during the previous two years. This test involves the presentation and discussion of Project Work chosen by the student on one of the topics included in the internship objectives and in an oral interview, in order to properly evaluate the student's preparation in relation to the knowledge acquired, the autonomy of judgment regarding the topics covered, as well as learning ability. The score of the exam will derive from the average of the marks obtained from the outcome of the evaluation given by the interns for each professional sector and from the judgment of the Project Work by the entire exam commission, constituted in addition to the Director of the ADP by an assistant internship, taking into account all the skills and objectives required by the training path. The maximum score equals 30/30 with honors.
The professional internship or Professionalising Training Activity (AFP) represents the fundamental training method for the development of specific skills, reasoning and critical thinking in the professional context of reference. For this purpose, the Student must attend the facilities provided by the training path and in the periods defined by the Course Council for a total number of CFU equal to 26 equal to 650 hours of AFP. The student always acts under the direction and control of the Director of Professionalising Activities who often has a lack of Tutor, although he is followed by didactic and professional support figures (Internship Assistants). All the internship is considered in the development of the multidisciplinary complexity of the diagnostic process and in the acquisition of professional skills that identify a complete health professional; not tied only to the use of technology but aware of its identity as a health worker at the service of the person, responding to the needs of the user with adequate technical skills, relational skills and radiation protection skills.
At the end of the internship the student will be able to (from general to particular):
• To deepen the knowledge about the technique and the radiographic methodology with particular reference to the
investigation protocols in emergency room radiology, orthopedic operating room, in the management of
traumatized patient;
• Basic knowledge of ultrasound equipment and techniques;
• Present / explain / discuss the insights on CT imaging techniques, especially in emergencies emergencies;
• Explain insights into MRI imaging techniques
• Explain the in-depth analysis on knowledge related to the use of equipment in the field of
management of safety and reduction of clinical risk in magnetic resonance imaging;
• Explain the insights of the study techniques and methodologies useful for conducting the exams
2nd level senological diagnostics;
• Explain the insights of the particular aspects about the skills in radiotherapy and treatments
brachytherapy;
• Explain the insights on Nuclear Medicine imaging techniques;
• Explain the insights on the knowledge related to the use of equipment in the field of
safety management and clinical risk reduction in Nuclear Medicine;
• Explain the in-depth analysis of radiation protection standards in Nuclear Medicine;
• Explain the insights of the skills necessary for the preparation of the doses, for the measures of
retention on the patient, for the elimination of organic waste, for the measures of
decontamination;
• Explain the details of the treatments with radioisotopic techniques, including the preparation of the patients and the consequent doses necessary for the execution of the diagnostic tests, the setting of the acquisition parameters as well as the processing of the pre and post-treatment tests;
• Explain the insights of radio metabolic therapy;
• Explain the insights of the role and functions of the TSRM in the Health Physics Service;
• Describe in depth the individual and environmental dosimetric controls as well as the quality and constancy guarantee programs of the different technologies used in Nuclear Medicine and
Radiotherapy;
• Illustrate the organization of a Department of Health Professions within the Company organization
The third year internship training project will offer the student the opportunity to experiment concretely with the technique of radiological projections, the basic techniques of radiology with contrast media, awareness of the multidisciplinary complexity of the diagnostic and therapeutic process, the possibility of identify the patient's needs by responding with adequate technical and relationship skills.
The practical internship program provides for a calendar rotation in all sectors of radiology, in particular in basic, traumatological and emergency, senological radiodiagnostic services.
In particular, the following topics will be studied:
- Define the elements of complexity related to the relationship between the professional medical technician in medical radiology and the user;
- Identify and understand the critical elements in the therapeutic diagnostic process related to the protection of privacy;
- Identify the main individual protection devices from ionizing radiation, describing their correct use;
- Knowing how to collaborate with all the professional figures involved during the team exams
Professional workshops will be carried out to facilitate the student in entering the traineeship, also through theoretical-practical tests during the course (planned by the Director of Professional Activities, through an adequately trained teaching staff), aimed at verifying the skills of professionalizing learning and understanding, problem-solving and communication skills
The teacher receives the students at his office in via Ottorino Rossi Varese, by appointment required by writing to the teacher's e-mail address: roberto.dibella@uninsubria.it
