The course aims at illustrating to the students advanced synthetic methodologies in organic synthesis and its most recente and innovative aspects.

Generation and reactivity of enolates: generation of enolates by deprotonation, regioselectivity and stereoselectivity in enolate formation, alkylation of enolates, aldol addition and condensation reactions.
Reaction of carbon nucleophiles with carbonyl compounds: Mannich reaction, Claiesn and Dieckmann condensation reactions, allylation reactions with boron, silicon and tin reagents.
Olefination reactions: Wittig and relatted reactions of phsphorus, sulfur and silicon stabilized nucleophiles, reactions with metal carbenes.
Preparation of organometallic reagents of lithium, magnesium and zinc. Organoboron and organosilicon compounds.
Reactions invoving organometallic reagents: organocopper and organopalladium reagents, olefin and alkyne metathesis reactions.
Application of the methodologies described in total synthesis.
