INTRODUCTION TO PUBLIC HEALTH
The concept of health; evolution of public health and current epidemiological background; public health tools; prevention; fields of application
EPIDEMIOLOGY AND PREVENTION OF COMMUNICABLE DISEASES
1. Risk factors, sources and source of infection, modes of transmission
2. Interventions on environment (disinfection and sterilization) and on population (vaccinations - types and strategies of use, vaccination calendar, real and perceived efficacy, infodemic and vaccination coverage; passive immunoprophylaxis; chemoprophylaxis; health surveillance and notification)
3. Healthcare associated infections: impact, risk factors, antibiotic resistance, prevention procedures
4. Food hygiene
EPIDEMIOLOGY AND PREVENTION OF NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES
1. Risk factors, evaluation of intervention priorities (effect, impact, modifiability of risk factors)
2. Primary prevention interventions: risk factors and specific interventions (smoking, alcohol, sleep, physical activity, nutrition, microbiota, socio-economic factors, obesity and metabolic disorders); risk in pregnancy; methodology for health education; local prevention (see Community Medicine)
3. Secondary prevention interventions - screening: criteria, methodology, specific examples, current and new fields of application
4. Risk assessment: applications of risk scores in public health, new biomarkers - Omics - and ethical aspects, personalized prevention

physical and chemical contaminants and environmental matrices, health effect; urban health
GLOBAL HEALTH
health inequalities, effect of climate on health, international health emergencies and preparedness, migrant health
HEALTH ORGANIZATION
1. The Healthcare System: principles, financing, effectiveness, costs, appropriateness, organization; hospital and territory
2. (Community Medicine) Territorial services - primary care, community homes and hospitals, health districts; management of integrated routes; frailty and chronicity
3. Healthcare management: quality of care, digital healthcare, assessment of healthcare technologies, risk management; evidence based practice (exercise researching bibliographic sources - PubMed)

The course is based on lectures and practical sections.
Examples from recent international literature will be used to supplement specific topics.
