According to the regulation of this Course, passing exams of the previous years is required to take the examination of this course. To optimize learning, persistent knowledge of the human anatomy and physiology provided in the previous years is important.
The assessment of learning will take place with the final exam, which will be held in oral form.
The knowledge of the contents and the appropriateness of the language will be evaluated.
Provide the student with basic knowledge of the following diseases: cardiovascular, endocrine and metabolic, ear-nose-throat and nutrition. After this course, the student should have a background knowledge of these diseases and of how they are managed especially in emergencies.
CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES
Presentation of the main cardiovascular diseases.
NUTRITION SCIENCE
Principles of correct nutrition. Disturbances in nutrition.
EAR-NOSE-THROAT
Presentation of the main diseases of the oro-pharynx, nose, sinuses, and ear.
ENDOCRINOLOGY
General concepts of anatomy and physiology of the endocrine system.
Main pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal diseases. Osteoporosis. Diabetes mellitus. Hypoglycemic syndromes. Obesity.
CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES
Anatomy of cardiovascular system. Cardiovascular risk factors. Cardiovascular diseases (etiology, symptoms and signs, diagnostic
techniques).
Electrocardiography (principles).
Atherosclerosis. Acute coronary syndromes.
Heart failure. Syncope. Embolism. Pericardial diseases. Myocardial diseases. Valvular diseases
NUTRITION SCIENCE
Principles of correct nutrition. Disturbances in nutrition.
EAR-NOSE-THROAT
Diseases of the oro-pharynx and nose; sinusitis; otitis. Diseases of the internal ear.
ENDOCRINOLOGY
General concepts of anatomy and physiology of the endocrine system.
Pituitary: functioning and non-functioning pituitary adenomas, diabetes insipidus, hypopituitarism.
Thyroid: tireotoxicosis and hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, thyroiditis, thyroid nodule and thyroid tumors.
Parathyroid and phospho-calcium metabolism: hyperparathyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, osteoporosis. Multiple endocrine neoplasms (MEN). Diabetes mellitus: classification, clinical picture, diagnostic assessment, acute and chronic complications. Hypoglicemic syndromes. Obesity.
The learning of the Course contents is based on the slides presented and explained by the Teacher during the lessons.
