To give the students the basic knowledge on the technical performance of the machines and the capability to acquire and process the results of quality testing.
Give general principles of technical and practical evaluation of quality.
Acquisition of some basic concepts of radiation therapy. Some bases of Dosimetry

Analysis of the quality control program in radiotherapy, correct use of measurement equipment, practical training.
Dosimetry instruments and measure units. Radiation type, collimators, wedges, MLC, shielding, source, distance and timing. In vivo Dosimetry, Total body irradiation, radiation field, critical structures near to the target, GTV, CTV, PTV. Simulation with Phantoms. Quality Assurance Program in Radiotherapy. Thomeworkes and responsibility of the radiation technologists, analysis of mistakes and prevention of common accidents.

Detailed explanation on the subdivision of quality controls according to their periodicity.
Practical demonstration in the Radiotherapy Department of the preparation of the phantoms and their use, acquisition of the measurements and subsequent analysis of the results.
Presentation of phantoms for radiotherapy: anthropomorphic, solids with variable geometry, water phantoms.
Use, calibration and maintenance of thermoluminescence dosimeters.
Linear electron accelerators for clinical use, their use, criticality.
Concept of "buil-up".
Dose measurements with the use of ionization chambers, concept of dosimetry intended as a measure of the effects produced by radiation.
