The aim is to teach to the student the basic principle of plastic surgery like the skin graft preparation and its maturation in the manifold application of the reconstructive surgery. The same philosophy is applied to the skin flaps.
Wound healing is articulated in several phases comprehensive of a complex interaction of biochemical, chemical and physical processes. The student will be informed about the temporal steps and about the inner processes inside each phase allowing a modern and complete interaction and information about how a defect heals spontaneously.
The burnt patient is, in his less favourable outcome, represent a multi-traumatized and high risk patient. The student will learn the classification of burn systemic disease, the metabolic changes and the main surgical and medical treatment both in emergency and standard situation.
Nowadays, breast reconstruction is a fundamental step in the treatment of a patient with breast cancer. In the lecture, it will be underlined the main reconstructive techniques about reconstruction with implants or autologous tissue transfer.
Congenital malformations are matter of interest of plastic surgeon and represents a disease treated with a modern multi–disciplinary approach. During the lessons the professor will analyse the main malformations of the head and neck anatomic region and the basic surgical corrective techniques with a precise time of treatment.
Aesthetic Surgery is nowadays one of the most modern and socially interesting branch of plastic surgery. The student will apprehend the basic information about the most important aesthetic surgery techniques dividing them in consideration of the different anatomic region with a synthetic but clear analysis of the medical-legal problem subtended in this kind of surgery.
