PROFESSIONAL TRAINEESHIP 1
First year summer internship can be carried out if the student has successfully attended the professional laboratories (LAB) and other professionalizing activities (APA).
The aim of the 1st year internship is to start the acquisition of the professional skills needed for general nursing care. Particularly, at the end of the 1st year internship the student will be able to:
1. Start to develop professional identity by comparing with different role models.
2. Start to develop the abilities and attitudes proper to the professional relationship, promoting and respecting human rights considering physical, psychological, spiritual and social needs of each individual, and taking into account opinions, beliefs, values and culture.
3. Collaborate in the promotion of people's health and well-being, ensuring patient-safety and promoting autonomy in low-complexity care situations.
4. Start to develop accountability for professional activities based on the training path.
5. Start applying critical thinking skills and nursing decision-making process in clinical situations of low complexity.
6. Carry out the nursing process by making the assessment, identifying some nursing diagnoses (risk of falling, risk of pressure ulcers, risk of infection), defining outcomes and performing basic nursing interventions.
7. Start to use health records to report assessment, nursing diagnoses, outcomes and interventions with International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP®) and the theoretical references of the Care Model of Human Processes (MAPU).
8. Recognize the role and skills of other members of the care team, communicating, interacting and working effectively with all the personnel.
9. Ensure privacy and confidentiality of health and care information.
During the internship the student will experience the contents of the Nursing courses of the first year of the degree (MED 45), referring particularly to MAPU and ICNP®.
