A special interest in learning the German language and a curiosity about the German-speaking cultural world.
During the oral exam the knowledge of the course contents will be checked. The examination will take into account not only the knowledge of the contents, but also the familiarity with the readings proposed during the lessons and with the materials made available on the computer platform.
The aim of the course is to teach students (both with previous knowledge of German and beginners) the following points:
- Understand and produce very short texts in German (level A1) with particular reference to the forms of communication most commonly used in today's communication (email, discussion forums, etc..);
- Selectively read German texts (level A1) of particular relevance for the university sector such as websites presenting universities, cities, institutions offering study periods in German-speaking countries;
- Recognise the differences and similarities between the German language and other languages (mainly Italian and English);
- Pronounce correctly words, and short expressions in German.
- Know the phonetic characteristics of German, and know how to explain them in relation to Italian.
- Analyse German texts from a morphosyntactic point of view.
After a general overview of geographical and historical aspects of the German language and culture, the lessons will deal with issues of phonetics/phonology and morphology of German with particular regard to the terminology in the language. Reflections on the language structures of German will be supplemented by textual examples of various types.
Teaching methods
The course, which will be held in Italian and German (if possible and as possible), includes 30 hours of frontal lessons, accompanied by language exercises. Videos will be used in the course and teaching material will be provided.
