Corso di First cycle degree in CHEMICAL AND INDUSTRIAL CHEMISTRY
Academic year when starting the degree:
2017/2018
Year:
3
Academic year in which the course will be held:
2019/2020
Course type:
Optional subjects
Credits:
6
Period:
Second semester
Standard lectures hours:
48
Detail of lecture’s hours:
Lesson (48 hours)
Requirements:

The contents of the courses of Organic Chemistry 1 and Organic Chemistry 2 are prerequisites

The verification of the knowledge acquired by the student will be carried out through the evaluation of reports in which the experiences and results obtained will be illustrated. The final grade, of course, will also depend on the commitment shown by the student in conducting experiments in the laboratory.

Assessment:
Voto Finale

The main objectives of the course are to provide an overview of the main techniques used in an organic chemistry laboratory by performing mini sequences of reactions. At the end of the course students will have become familiar with the procedures that are most commonly used in an organic chemistry lab and will have acquired the tools to conduct and design simple organic syntheses.

Students will be required to perform some synthetic sequences, using even complex experimental procedures, such as those in inert atmosphere. The products of the single reactions will be isolated and characterized by 1H NMR and IR spectroscopy. Furthermore, in order to get used to the optimization of work times during a research, students will have to conduct more experiments in parallel.
