Core prerequisite is the knowledge of English language equal or superior to the B1 level defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The examination consists of a written test and an oral test. The written test consists of a test including - but not limited to - matching or gap-filling, translations, multiple-choice questions, true/false. Only the use of a monolingual English paper dictionary is permitted during the written test.
Passing the written test (minimum 18/30) is compulsory for taking the oral test.
The oral test consists of a short exposition relating to the topics covered during the course.
Before enrolling for the written test of English for Cooperation it is MANDATORY to correctly complete the Reading Comprehension exercises on the MEC (MacMillan English Campus) platform. Specific instructions for activation will follow.
The course aims to sharpen students' language skills through the study of English in the context of international cooperation. Specific objectives include enhancing the ability to understand texts on both concrete and abstract international topics. The course focuses on the skills for effective communication in an international context, for producing clear and detailed texts on various topics and for arguing on relevant issues, using linguistic techniques to expose any advantages or difficulties of specific cooperation choices. Through the exploration of topics such as sustainable development, ethics, and technological innovation, the course aims to develop advanced reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, preparing participants to interact effectively in international and multilingual contexts.
The course is designed to introduce global terminology dynamics and essential language skills in the field of international cooperation. Topics such as intercultural communication, sector-specific documentation, international negotiations and project management will be covered, examining the main tools needed to operate effectively in international contexts. Critical topics such as sustainable development, ethics, sustainability and technological innovation will be explored to provide an overview of best practices and emerging challenges. Through the analysis of current case studies, the course aims to prepare participants to make informed and informed contributions to international cooperation initiatives, enriching their language skills and broadening their global outlook.
The course takes place in the second semester, comprises 50 hours of lectures, and includes practical exercises and constant reading, translation and textual comprehension activities.
Worksheets from the most important websites on the subject and materials provided and prepared directly by the lecturer will also be used during the course.
