METODOLOGIE CHIMICHE PER L'AMBIENTE
Module A
Students must have basic knowledge of general and inorganic chemistry, and organic chemistry in order to understand the chemical industrial processes, issues related and industrial chemistry evolution.
Module B
Knowledge of environmental chemistry, in particular of the problems deriving from the presence of pollutants in the various environmental compartments. Basic elements of Statistics. Familiarity with the basic functions of the EXCEL software.
Module A
The evaluation of knowledge includes a oral test.
Module B
The final evaluation of knowledge consists of a written test (2 hours) with 3 questions. Two questions are about one of the main topics addressed in the course, and one exercise.
Necessary to pass the exam is a correct use of the terminology and a clear written exposure, consistent with the questions asked and in-depth with respect to the topics covered by the course. The preparation of the test should follow the power-point presentations provided by the teacher and must be supported by the use of the recommended text for chemometrics.
Module A
the student will have to take awareness regarding the essential role of the chemistry evolution in order to both provide and develop those products which are asked for by the market, always being aware of the need of the human and environment respect
Module B
The course aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for the exploration and modeling of complex data using the main multivariate analysis techniques and modeling techniques (regression and classification).
At the end of the course the student will have the following knowledge:
• Quantitative methodologies for the study of chemical-environmental problems
• Complex data structure
• Main techniques of exploration and modeling of complex data through qualitative and quantitative methodologies
As a result, the student will develop the following skills:
• Exploration and management of complex data systems using quantitative qualitative methodologies
• Identification of the appropriate models based on the problem under investigation
• Development and validation of qualitative and quantitative predictive models
• Application of knowledge in a multidisciplinary context, with particular reference to the problems arising from the impact of chemicals to the environment
The student must develop adequate communication skills regarding the exposure of the identified problems, the methods used and the results achieved, using an appropriate language, as well as the ability to formulate a judgment and derive conclusions based on the information available or derived through the application of multivariate analysis and modeling.
Module A
The course is organized in 48 hours of frontal lessons in Como. Attendance at the lectures is optional, but recommended, and the final exam will be the same for attending and non-attending students.
Module B
The course is organized in 56 hours of which 40 are lectures (teacher in Varese, in video with Como), and 16 in computational laboratory (Varese). Attendance at the computational lab is mandatory for 75% of the hours. Attendance at lectures is optional, recommended, and the final exam will be the same for attending and non-attending
