A basic knowledge (A2-B1 level) of English is required.
The learning assessment will be carried out through a written pass-or-fail test. Exam lenght: 45 minutes.
The course aims at providing a comprehensive revision of the major structures of the English language, especially focusing on the most complex ones. Students will be prompted, by means of suitable and frequent practice activities, to a correct usage of the linguistic structures taken into consideration from a metalinguistic and contrastive point of view. At the end of the course, students shall be able to master the structures dealt with during the lectures.
During the course the most complex morpho-syntactic structures of the English language (such as conditional sentences, complex verb phrases, collocations, etc..) will be taken into consideration (10 hours). Practice activities will be carried out on texts dealing with the main interest areas of the degree course (6 hours).
All material will be available on the teacher's e-learning page. Non-attending students may find it useful to consult the volume M. Laganà, Introduzione al verbo inglese, Falzea editore, 2010 as to complex verb phrases.

or any other upper-intermediate grammar (B1-B2)
