Requirements: 

Knowledge of anatomy of the spine, physiology and general pathology.

The final exam will be articulated as an oral exam including the evaluation by a commission of teachers of the integrated course. The final grade will take into account the knowledge acquired, the ability to link together this knowledge, the expressive skills and the specific attitude of the student.

During the course the student will acquire knowledge and skills in the field of vertebral pathology and related treatment principles. In particular, he will acquire knowledge that will enable him to understand the diagnostic classification phase and the principles of treatment of the main vertebral pathologies most commonly encountered during the physiotherapist profession. The student will also be asked to acquire, in relation to the topics covered, appropriateness of language, learning and communication skills as necessary tools for understanding and transmitting the competences object of the course. These skills will allow the student to discern and therefore practically apply the principles of the professional activity of the physiotherapist in relation to the diseases of the spine, in independent judgment.

The course will focus on the main pathologies of congenital origin and of the developmental age, degenerative and traumatic. The criterion adopted will be that of relevance in clinical practice in relation to topics of physiotherapeutic interest, focusing in particular on the most frequently encountered and practical relevance topics. For each subject the topics of conservative and surgical treatment, prevention and rehabilitation will be addressed with particular attention to the role of the physiotherapist.

Kyphosis, scoliosis and postural defects.
Disc pathology: hard and soft hernias, radiculopathies, instability and degenerative disease.
Spondylo-disco-unco-arthrosis.
Stenosis, central and lateral.
Syndromes and hemi-syndromes of the cauda equina.
Spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis.
High energy and fragility vertebral fractures.

The course will be structured with lectures followed by a moment, at the end of each lesson, for discussion, questions and insights on the topics covered.
