The course is divided into 3 teaching units:
-Basic principles of the approach to the surgical patient. - Preparation for surgery.
-Pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative management of the surgical patient.
In the teaching units, the following will be addressed in detail:
- Role of oral surgery;
-Basic principles for the approach to the patient to undergo oral surgery: past pathological history, near pathological history, physical examination, diagnostic hypothesis, diagnostic study, diagnosis, therapeutic approach, followup;
-Evaluation of the patient's state of health; -The use of the medical record;
-The use of informed consent;
-The choice of the type of anesthesia;
- Preparation for surgery: surgical environment, instruments, patient, operators;
-Clean preparation and sterile preparation;
- Antibiotic therapy and antibiotic prophylaxis;
- Recognize, prevent and control painful symptoms;
-Recognize and manage the complications: vasovagal syncope, arrhythmias, allergic reactions, haemorrhages, dental and bone fractures;
-Management of post-operative hygien
