1. Clinical Psychology: definition, goals and methods; applications to specific medical practice.
2. History and paradigms in Psychology and Psychotherapy.
3. Normal e patological personality: definition, theories e models:
- Psicodinamic approach;
- Behaviourism and Cognitivism;
- Humanistic Psychology;
- Sistemic Theories.
In addition to the main reference theories of Clinical Psychology, will be treated the reference constructs derived from different theoretical orientations of significant importance in the specific professional activity.
Particular clinical situations.
Psychological interventions in the hospital context.

1. Clinical Psychology: definition, purpose, methods. Applications to specific medical practice.
2. History and paradigms of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy.
3. Normal and pathological personality: definition, theories and models.
- Psychodynamic perspective and derived constructs: defence mechanisms.
- Cognitive-behavioural perspective and derived constructs: conditioning, sensitization and desensitization; coping strategies; locus of control; metacognition; mastery.
- Humanistic perspective and derived constructs: relationship of help; empathy; pyramid of needs.
- Systemic perspective and derived constructs: the sick person’s family; family therapy.
4. Particular clinical picture: stress and distress; post-traumatic and post-intensive care clinical picture; Demoralisation Syndrome.
5. Psychological interventions in the hospital context: psychological support; counselling; short psychotherapy; EMDR; Mindfulness.

Frontal and interactive lessons.
The lectures include as a support the projection of slides to facilitate the synthesis and attention processes. During the explanation in the classroom students are urged to participate and interact with the teacher to express questions, doubts and curiosity. Examples from everyday life or clinical settings are also presented to facilitate the application of concepts to daily professional practice.
