The course aims to provide future legal practitioners with the basic tools necessary for carrying out tasks aimed at the protection of human rights in a multicultural and multi-religious national and international context.
The first module of the course aims to provide the basis for the knowledge of the "human rights" protected by the international cooperation, with particular attention to the debate relating to their universality. This goal will be achieved both through the knowledge of the main international texts, their genesis and their contents (knowledge and understanding) and through the study of their "regional" reception with particular attention to the so-called Islamic model of human rights and the constant reference of the textual normative data to the cultural matrix that originated it (applying knowledge). The comparative framework will allow the acquisition of a reflective ability aimed at understanding social, political, cultural and religious conditions at the basis of the application of human rights as well as an attitude to a critical analysis of the situations examined (making judgments). Finally, also thanks to the final oral exam of the course, the student will prepare herself/himself for the communication of the main elements of the cases examined (communication) and for the personal reworking of the information received (learning skills).
The second module of the course will provide in-depth knowledge of the United Nations Agenda 20-30 with particular attention to the Euro-Mediterranean framework (knowledge and understanding) by exercising students to transfer general knowledge (applying knowledge) to the analysis of specific issues (ecological issue; women's rights; children's rights; right to education ...) by developing adequate assessment skills (making judgments) to be adequately argued and reworked also in view of the final interview (communication and learning skills).
