Requirements: 

The courses of the three-year curriculum, constitute the essential conceptual basics to tackle the issues proposed in the course.

The students’ knowledge will be assessed through an oral test. A question will be asked in relation to the main issues of each text. The students are required to argue and critically analyse each topic. The final mark is calculated in 30ies. It will take into account the accuracy and quality of the responses (60%), as well as communication skill and the ability to adequately justify statements, analyzes and opinions shown during the interview (40%).

The course aims therefore to enable the students to analyse and evaluate the proposed matters and, above all, to evaluate the means and instrument necessary for the construction of the public opinion.
The expected learning outcomes are:
• Knowledge and understanding of the history of the communication and media systems;
• Ability of applying the theoretical knowledge and techniques learned in order to write and develop journalistic texts.

2) Power and imagination, the Prince news.
3) Gutenberg revolution.
4) News sharing and culture in the Republic of Letters.
5) Militant journalism during revolutionary and napoleonic era.
6) News and mass society.
7) War and dictatorship propaganda until the end of totalitarianism.
8) Journalism from the Cold War to the XXI century.
