No prerequisite knowledge of Russian history and culture is required for this course.
Oral examination at the end of the course
The aim of the course is to provide students who do not have any prior knowledge of Russian history and culture with an overview of the main issues of the cultural identity of modern Russia.
The course will focus on the main moments of Russian history and culture, with particular reference to the modern and contemporary era.
Particular attention will be given to the specificity of some fundamental aspects of Russian history and culture, such as, for example, the relationship of Russia with Europe and Asia.
Information on all relevant course materials will be given by the course tutor at the first lesson.
The course runs in the first semester with 50 hours of lessons.
Continuous attendance is strongly recommended. Non-attending students should contact the course tutor at the beginning of the academic year in order to agree a supplementary program.
