PROBABILITY AND STATISTICS FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE
Basic mathematical abilities are required. Specifically, the knowledge acquired from the fundamental Mathematical Analysis course in the first year provides a sufficient base to attend successfully this course.
The course aims at providing the fundamental concepts of probability and statistics, with the aim of modeling real problems. Computer based techniques for modeling and analysing real-life problems will be illustrated.
At the end of the course, the student will be able to understand and apply a basic set of statistical techniques for describing and analysing problems, and to interpret the results of statistical analyses.
In addition, the student will be able to develop further knowledge to enhance her abilities and tackle problems and context not previously studied.
