In order to better understand the topics of this course it is however suggested that the student possesses the knowledge offered by the course of General Psychology (C.I. Human Sciences 1, I year).

Learning objectives
1. The aims of the course is to provide students with theoretical notions necessary to apply the basic concepts of clinical, social and health psychology to nursing practice and to manage relationship with patients and their families
also in specific situations and contexts of nursing practice (children, old people, death, grief, stress and trauma).
2. Another target is to provide students theoretical foundations to understand stressful situations, to cope with professional stress and to prevent burnout.

Course contents
The Integrated Course consists of two parts: Clinical Psychology 1 (20 hours) in the first semester and Clinical Psychology 2 (14 hours) in the second semester. The two parties represent a continuum of arguments that integrate with each other in building knowledge and are therefore dealt with by the same teacher.
CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY 1
General Concepts:
- clinical psychology and nursing;
- psychological aspects of the nurse-patient relationship.
The sick person and the disease:
- health, illness and quality of life;
- factors influencing adjustment to illness;
- psychological reactions to illness;
- patient needs.
Death, dying and grief.
Illness and family:
- the impact of illness and death on the family;
- the role of family in adjustment to illness.
CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY 2
Helping relationship and counseling in specific professional situations:
- illness and death in old people.
Counseling and Motivational counseling.
Stress and distress:
- General Adaptation Syndrome;
- Adjustment disorders and Post-traumatic Stress Disorders.
Teamwork and burnout.- illness and death in children and adolescence;
