INSTITUTES OF PUBLIC LAW
The course does not present any pre-requisite with respect to other undergraduate courses and no previous studies or legal knowledge are required.
The main objective of the course of Public Law Institutions is to provide a general view of the principal institutions of Italian public law, according to a functional perspective to the needs of non-juristic students. The fundamental aspects of constitutional order and state administration will be deepened by introducing some of the basic notions of law, such as the concept of law, provision and source. At the end of the course, the student will be able to understand the most important aspects of the Italian constitutional and administrative system, and in particular the Italian Constitution, have acquired sufficient mastery of the institutes and key concepts of the public-law science and will familiarize themselves with the legal language.
The main topics discussed in the course will be: insights on the notion of State, state forms and forms of government, sources of law and their relevance in the Order, with particular focus to our Constitution and its characters, the main constitutional bodies (Parliament, the President of the Republic, the Government and the Public Administration, the Constitutional Court), the judiciary, local autonomy, the rights and freedoms of the person in the Constitution, with particular attention to the right to health.
