At the end of the course the student will be able to evaluates and describes, on the basis of the knowledges of pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic characteristics, the properties of a drug and to be able to individuate the therapeutic strategies considering the chemical structure and the target of the drug, in addition the knowledge about the pharmacokinetic properties will be used to be able to consider the therapeutic and toxicologic effects

deepen the basic notions and mechanism of the main classes of antimicrobial antibiotics: - Beta-lactams, other antibiotics active on the bacterial wall, - Aminoglycosides, tetracyclines, macrolides, chloramphenicol, other antibiotics active on synthesis protein
- Sulfonamides, trimethoprim, other antimetabolites. Quinolones, other antibiotics active on the bacterial DNA / RNA.
Notions on:
- Antibacterial antibiotics - antiviral drugs - notes on antiprotozoal and anthelmintic drugs.
The mechanisms and methods of action and effectiveness of:
- Cytotoxic anticancer drugs.
- Monoclonal antibodies. Modifiers of biological response.
- Hormonal treatment of neoplasms.
